A large, hand-painted sign reads: Border Crossing One Mile Outlaws Welcome) (Holding it from below is BUZZ LIGHTYEAR) (Then, the entire train rises into the sky) (From deep in the canyon, a FLASH and RUMBLE) Woody and the train plummet over the edge) (Bullseye and Jessie skid to a stop at the canyon edge) (POV - The train skids toward the severed rails) (Woody stands, then leaps from Bullseye into the locomotive) (Bullseye runs up next to the speeding locomotive) (The Potato Heads leap off the train into the Corvette. Potato Head: It's me or the kiddies, Sheriff. (HONK-HONK! A pink Corvette, driven by the three ALIENS, pulls up alongside the train) Potato Head: Hate to leave early, but our ride is here. (WHIP PAN - A train car of TROLLS lean out the windows) ZOOM to REVEAL - The middle of the bridge is loaded with dynamite) (Ahead, a huge trestle bridge spans a canyon. Potato Head: I always wanted to go out with a bang! Woody: Give it up, Bart! You've reached the end of the line! Jessie: I think you dropped something, mister. (TILT UP to find Woody, riding BULLSEYE, JESSIE at the reins) (Bart and Betty laugh, peek over the edge.) The light slowly dims until it's completely dark) looks around as the text "ANIMATION STUDIOS" fades in. He shakes his body and bounces on the "I" until it squishes it. ( PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS: We see the text: PIXAR. "PICTURES" fades in, while the circular line is nearly staying visible on the logo) A circular line is drawn over the castle (in the same vein as the previous logo), then the castle enters many dots from the bottom of the screen to reveal "WALT DiSNEY", in the post-1979 Disney script logo font, albeit slightly revised. We then see the castle, a la Cinderella, done in CGI, while different fireworks are appearing. Then, some clouds appear, a la Mary Poppins, and a pirate ship, a la Peter Pan. ( WALT DISNEY PICTURES: On a night sky background, we see a star, a la Pinocchio. Critics Consensus: Deftly blending comedy, adventure, and honest emotion, Toy Story 3 is a rare second sequel that really works.Įnglish Subtitles SDH: (YELLOW) (in other captions) Rotten Tomatoes: Critic Score: 99% Certified Fresh. Ultimately, if Toy Story 5 duplicated this, then it wouldn't feel so strange to bring Buzz and Woody back together.Story by: John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich The scene had nostalgia built in, which helped the significant changes from the last installment feel natural and believable. The third installment in the franchise started with a montage of passing years, showing Andy growing up to the point that he was about to head off for college and leave his toys behind for god. However, if Toy Story 5 were to be set after a sizeable time jump, like 2010's Toy Story 3, then the emotional ending of Toy Story 4 could be conserved. Continuing to give these characters satisfying endings, just to undo them again in a sequel, will eventually cause audiences to lose trust in these big emotional moments in the Toy Story franchise, and the impact will be significantly lessened. The goodbye between Woody and Buzz at the end of Toy Story 4 held the emotional weight of the movie, which is why the idea of bringing them back together so soon in Toy Story 5 has already led some to criticize Pixar's decision for another sequel.
